Extension annual conference provides an opportunity for all Extension professionals to:

• Engage in dialogue related to administrative issues.
• Participate in professional development opportunities.
• Recognize contributions to their profession.
• Practice shared leadership through their involvement with professional organizations and committees.

OAEP, ESP, CES and the Extension Administration have demonstrated a strong commitment to annual conference through the involvement of representatives in planning and implementing the event. To assist all those currently and in the future involved with planning this event, the following committee structure and timeline have been developed. The planning committee structure will:

• Share the responsibilities between OAEP, ESP, CES and Extension administration in implementing the annual event.
• Insure adequate involvement from OAEP, ESP, CES and Extension administration on the Annual Conference Planning committee.
• Enhance communication between the entities involved in planning the event.
• Provide all Extension professionals with shared leadership opportunities that strengthen Extension and individual leadership skills.

Functions of the planning committee are to:

1. Develop a common purpose and set strategic goals for annual conference that will guide the planning committee in its yearly planning process.
2. Determine the key components of the event that will occur on an annual basis.
3. Develop a five-year working relationship with a hotel / conference facility, which will:
   • Allow the committee to use meeting strategies that will fit within the facility's structure.
   • Offer the potential for a discounted rate due to the longer term relationship with the facility.
   • Promote a consistent site for annual conference that participants come to know and trust.
