A number of approaches have been adopted to strengthen the role and responsibilities of the county director and also provide resource support. As a result, every director is required to participate in at least two professional development experiences focused on management/leadership during each two year period. Each Regional Director has a limited amount of money available to support county director participation in professional development opportunities. County Directors should submit their requests, based on their professional development plans, for approval and reimbursement to their Regional Director.
The professional development plan and results will be reviewed by the County and Regional Directors during the annual performance appraisal.
Management/leadership development experiences can be obtained from any credible educational source. This site provides links to seminars and workshops available through a) OSU Extension, b) the University Training unit and c) external sources. County Directors can select from these workshops as well as others they may be aware of based on their own assessment of need.
